Roan Ash is a multi-talented singer and songwriter from Pretoria with a modern-country-blues-folk style.
He started playing the guitar in 2001, and in 2006 he started opening for other bands and doing his own live performances. Since then, Roan has shared the stage with artists including Dan Patlansky, Matthew Mole Jan Blohm, Koos Kombuis, Arno Carstens, Vusi Mahlasela, Glaskas, Klopjag, Robin Auld, Albert Frost and others. In February 2015, Roan recorded and released his debut album The Traveller, independently. He launched it to a full house at the iconic Atterbury Theatre and toured it nationwide.
He has performed at major art and culture festivals including Innibos and the Fijnwyn Wine Festival. Roan was a contestant on the first season of The Voice, South Africa, where he was instantly noticed by the music industry. In 2016, he co-wrote and recorded the theme song of the feature film “Sy Klink Soos Lente” with Bouwer Bosch and Dawie De Jager, which is receiving widespread acclaim. Roan joined the Inhoud Huis team in 2016, where he is working with songwriters including Christoph Kotze (Appel) and Johan Vorster on his next album. He is well on his way to a successful music career, with regular live shows of his powerful songs.
He combines his soothing crunch style vocals together with meaningful songs and heartfelt performances. He describes his music as being inspired by his life’s journey. After digitally releasing his brand new album “Whiskey to my soul” in April, Roan has been the talk of the town, not only locally but internationally as well. He has sold out the Atterbury Theatre two weeks prior to his physical album launch on 22 May 2018. If you are looking for an artist that will inspire and impress your audience with depth, modern song choices and soulful performance, book Roan Ash today. His life philosophy is “Be someone that feels the rain, don’t just get wet” and you will see this in his outstanding live performances.

The Knysna motor show is organised by the Garden Route Motor Club (GRMC)and is now recognised as one of the premier motor shows in South Africa. Over the past four years, the motor show has grown exponentially in attracting the best 300 to 400 classic cars from across South Africa. The 2016 Motor show was regarded by participants and the press as the best and well organised that they have attended in SA. Accolades were received from all quarters.
To ensure the quality of the vehicles/motorcycles on display, invitations are targeted and all vehicles/motorcycles are personally selected. With the popularity of the motor show growing we estimate that the show will draw in excess of 5000 visitors (Mainly from the Garden Route area, but a fair percentage also from across SA).
Besides providing the fellowship enjoyed by like-minded people, exhibitors, the motor trade and the public, the show has been the source of much-needed funds for local charities. Over the past four years close to R200,000 has been distributed to Hospice, Animal welfare, E-PAP (Children feeding scheme), Knysna High School bursary fund for underprivileged learners and FAMSA. This is the GRMC’S major drive, once a year, to raise money for these charities within the Garden Route area.

Sedgefield is renowned as being the Garden Route’s Slow Town, the emblem of which is a giant mosaic tortoise. The Slow Town Festival which takes place in April every year is a marvellous way to engage in the Sedgefield community. The events and activities range from art exhibitions, a beauty pageant, mosaic workshops, Mitchell’s beer tastings, a golf challenge, a chess tournament and even Victorian picnic accompanied by the sounds of a local Marimba-playing band.
Gerickes Point is one of the Garden Routes most precious beaches. There is a viewpoint overlooking the ocean and if you are there at the right time of year (around September/October), it is the perfect place to view southern right whales.
Other activities and highlights of the town is a Classic Car collection. It is a must-see when travelling to or through Sedgefield. Situated on the Main Road/N2, it hosts a large range of classic cars from different periods in motor history.
Book for your own guided walks (The Giant Kingfisher Trail) among indigenous coastal shrubbery and get a map of the Slow Town Tourist Route which will highlight the main touristic points of the town; a great activity you can do by foot.
The Swartvlei Rivermouth is a hit with locals. Boogie board with the incoming tide into the Swartvlei Lagoon. Children will tirelessly run up the shore and be carried down again with the incoming tide.
